Meeting to present progress of six-month project Implementation to Battambang Provincial authorities and provincial line Departments

Pact Cambodia implements Women Entrepreneur Act (WE Act), a five-year project funded by USAID, started in August 2018 till August 2023, aiming at empowering women and youth between 15-35 years; living in the urban cities of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampong Cham, Kampot/Kep and Sihanuk Vill; to exercise their socio-economic rights through two key specific objectives: 1) building business skills for young women entrepreneurs and youth and 2) promoting constructive civic engagement, ensuring that young women and youth have received acquired resources and skills that they feel confident to participate in decision making process and ultimately they can achieve and choose they their live on the way want to choose.

WE Act works through more than 30 partners who work to strengthen and support entrepreneurship ecosystem in urban centers of the above cities to improve access to market, access to safe finance, building human resources and skills, creating enabling environment for YWEs and youth engagement leadership and policy formulation, reducing culture barrier for women and youth and building supporting structure and networking among key relevant actors in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

WE Act started in Phnom Penh in August 2018, and expanded project activities to Siem Reap in November26, 2019.  And November 26, 2020 WE Act launched its office in Battambang province under participation of Mrs. Ho Dany, deputy director of provincial department of handicraft, science, technology and innovation and Mrs. Phouk Sopheak, director of provincial department of women affair of Battambang province, YWEs and youth representatives, private sectors, and NGOs Business Association partners.

Recently, WE Act has been working to select 15 potential partners to actively implement WE Act project in Battambang such as: 1) Advocacy and Policy Institute (API), 2) People Center for Development and Peace (PDP-Center), 3) Village Support Group (VSG), 4) Support Her Investment Co. Ltd (SHE Investment), 5) Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA), 6) Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), 7) Khmer Youth Association (KYA), 8) Micro Rainbow Cambodia (MRC), and 9) Phum Impact Battambang. WE Act is taking a lead to organize the Inception Meeting with Provincial authority and line departments to engage all WEAct’s partners with
the local authorities by presenting each projects goal and strategy that will be implemented in Battambang province. The meeting will also be seeking support and collaboration from our local authorities to bring the success and achieving the goal of WE Act project. The meeting is conducted through ZOOM call that will create Link by Pact Cambodia team.
