LGBTQIA Coffee Talk

To celebrate Pride Month 2020, WE Act hosted a Facebook live event “L” with two speakers: Mr. Srun Srorn, Co-founder at Cam-ASEAN Youth’s future and Mr. Long Malen, VGE Project Officer at CCHR on June 26. The event which had a reach of 3,000, 1,000 views,  800 engagements including reactions, comments, clicks, and shares encouraged everyone to:

• Understanding the challenges, adaptations, and solutions of LGBTQIA in society;
• Know what has been done by relevant organizations to promote human rights against discrimination on LGBTQIA and raise awareness;
• Build a culture of respect and understanding of differences within Pact and the public around LGBTQIA.

The event was hosted by WE Act’s own Civic Engagement Officer, Ms. Sokhemmary By and featured two prominent members of the LGBTQIA community in Cambodia, Long Malen and Mr. Srun Srorn. Mr. Long Malen is a transgender person and currently working as a Project Officer for the Voice Gender Empowerment (VGE) at the Cambodia Center for Human Right (CCHR). hold a bachelor’s degree in law from Pannasastra University of Cambodia and he is passionate to bring positive impact to his their community. Mr SRUN SRORN is a founder of LGBTIQ movement in Cambodia since 2006. He was one of founder of Rainbow Community Kampuchea and led for 6 years, founder of SOGIE project at CCHR, core member of ASEAN SOGIE caucus LGBTIQ in ASEAN and currently run his own organization CamASEAN YOUTH’s FUTURE (which focus on human rights of LGBITQ, disability, sex workers, children and youth in rural and urban areas www.camasean.com .
