After seeing them struggle to find options for earning income close to home in Cambodia, Chen Sopheap started an association for women weavers. She is a strong role model for other women entrepreneurs here, who often face significant challenges. Funded by USAID, Pact’s WE Act project is working to break down the social, systemic barriers that impede young women entrepreneurs. Working in the urban areas of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, the five-year project is helping young women entrepreneurs gain the knowledge and resources they need to be business and civic leaders. In addition to entrepreneurs themselves, WE Act partners with civil society organizations, the private sector, business associations and government institutions.
